I last told you about "Flower Patch" here when I finished it. Many of the ladies in the Sampler Guild sent there finished piece to Jill Rensel in Ogden, UT because she does great work and had the perfect frame for the piece. So I decided to give it a try to, having never mailed out stitching before. It all worked out great, price was good and Jill was great to work with. I had called her on the phone first to make sure she still had the frame and then we corresponded by email. She even sent me an email when it was all done that included a photo of the finished piece. I was not sure where it would end up in the house so I had her use conservation glass which would help with any ultraviolet ray issues. Turns out it is in the hall way to the upper levels, with some, but not much, sun exposure.

I think you will agree that the frame is perfect for the piece....look closely at the design on the frame and the aqua blue stitching around the flower patch! Picture is at a bit of an angle to avoid glare, but you should be able to see it quite well.

Happy day everyone!!

Flower Patch Finished!!

Last night I put the finishing touches on the black area in the center. I am really glad I did the black after all, it really makes the flowers pop more. You can see how it looked without the black here. As a size reference it is on 8 inch square Q-Snaps.

I made myself a working copy and her is a photo of what I do with all my working copies when I am done with them.

They are trashed and I either keep, give away or sell the original. Note: I DO NOT keep the copy and give away or sell the original or give away or sell the copy, and neither should you since it violates copyright (at least here in the United States). And yes the page is all messed up to avoid anyone trying to use it. With the loss of the great electronic publication The Gift of Stitching due to blatant copyright abuse I just felt the need. Thanks for listening.

I will get off my soapbox now and hope you all have a GREAT day!!

Flower Patch and Miss Maddie Updates

Well, Miss Maddie is going much better and mom is happy she finally pooped last night! She is putting some weight on her leg and getting a bit sassy, so I know she is well to being back to normal. This will be the harder part keeping her calm when she feels and thinks she is just fine! Still needs the e-collar when not supervised since the staples will not come out until May 24. Here is one thing she still does best:

Go to Miss Maddie's World for more frequent and detail updates if interested.

Also, I am about done with Flower Patch. I needed to decide if I was going to leave it this way or add the WDW (Weekes Dye Works) Mascara to the center area around the flowers. Well yesterday while home waiting for the dog to poop, I decided to fill it in. I am about half done and ran out of floss, but hope to have the finished photo for you soon.

That is about all for now. Have a great week everyone!!

Home Decor and Flower Patch Update

Just a quick post to show you a lamp I decorated and lamp mat I made to match the bedspread, dust ruffle and valence in the room. The curtains are a solid medium/light blue.

The lamp was a Bed Bath and Beyond purchase with navy shade and I made the ribbon that is at the bottom. I did not want to sew or glue it on, so I used Velcro fasteners on the ends and just wrapped it and fastened. I used the left over fabric to make the mat the lamp is sitting on. This is our guest room which, perhaps sadly, is the most coordinated room in the house!

Also a quick progress report on Flower Patch compared to the previous post of April 22.

Have a great week!!
