Ruffled Crochet Scarf

I was inspired by Patti of Rocky Mountain Stitcher and her crocheted ruffle scarf and made one for myself.

Took me about 10 hours and I only  used 2.5 of the 4 balls suggested by the pattern, but that is ok. My color is #213 and is called Regatta. Patti has a link to the free pattern on her blog, so check her great scarf out too and get the pattern!

Valentines for Veterans

One of the local radio stations I listen to is collecting Valentines for Veterans since Feb. 10 -16 is National Hospitalized Veterans Week. So I decided to get out my new Sizzix BigShot die cut machine and scalloped heart and star die to cut a bunch of hearts and stars out in lots of colors. I was not sure what I would need, so I cut out some in pink and red and blue and yellow and camouflage. I have a lot of left overs, but they can be used another day I am sure!!

I made 5 cards addressed to A Veteran and inside wished them a Happy Valentine’s Day, thanked them for their service and wished them well. The cards were fun to make and just shows that you never know when something will come in handy. I saved a shopping bag that was in the camouflage paper, because I thought I might need it one day...and I did!

I ran all the cut out hearts and stars through my Xyron machine to turn them into stickers, placed them on the cards and then decorated them to add some punch.

 Here they are:

I could take them to a drop off site, but decied to mail them to the station, so off they go!

Happy Day Everyone!!!

Monday Quotes

Today in the United States it is a Federal Holiday, honoring the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He was a great speaker and civil rights leader. Rather than use his more well know quotes I found this one when I googled "MLK quotes" and liked it, so I am sharing with you!

"Faith is taking the first step even when you can't see the whole staircase."

Jan 2013 Ort Report & Broomstick Lace

Here is my Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long Ort Report for January. I have information on what all this hoopla is about on the left side of my blog. If you are curious and/or want to join in just click on the link!

The jar is full of orts from a project I am teaching at my local guild in March, I made a sample and orts from the Sampler Guild of the Rockies Mail Art I am working on.

I also took a stab at broomstick lace. Here is my first attempt. If I can find more yarn it will be a scarf for me, if not, then perhaps a dresser scarf or something.

That is about all for now!!

Fancy Wrap Finish Finished

This was the ornament I finish finished for us for 2012 - in time for our tree, but I forgot to post about it. I last told you about it here. I could have sworn I did a more recent update this fall, however a search of my blog did not bring it up. Maybe I had planned to and did not get around to it! OOPS.

First a photo of the top:

Followed by  a side view shot:

Also on last check, I did not have 5 people who commented on the Creative Pay it Forward blog post that also agreed to do it too and post it on their blog and provide me the blog link. Perhaps I was not clear on my intentions? Time will tell.

Have a GREAT day!!!!

2013 Creative Pay it Forward - slight update

Once of my friends on Facebook (FB) made this suggestion and I thought it was a great idea, so I posted it on my FB page: "2013 Creative Pay It Forward: The first five of my friends to comment will receive a random gift from me sometime during the year...maybe something handcrafted, maybe a book, baked goodies, a surprise! Your gift will arrive whenever the mood strikes me without warning. Here's the only requirement: You have to post this on your wall as well and commit do doing the same for five of your friends. Please message me with your address if I don't already have it."

I got 5 people to comment and agree to re-post and do the same. I got to thinking why not promote this in blog land too, and you don't have to be one of the 5 people to comment to carry it on either.

So here goes my attempt in blog land. Sorry you must have a blog to participate.

The first 5 people to comment on my blog and then post a link to their blog doing the same Creative Pay it Forward will get a random gift from me sometime during the year. If you are one of those first 5 please include an email address I can contact you at if your blog does not have that information. Thanks. Also I give you permission to copy and paste any of my words in this post if it will help you with your blog post.

Since I have comment moderation on, I will keep checking the comments more often than normal until I get the 5 participants. But, if you see 5 comments, still check them out since not all may be participating.

If you are not fast enough to comment, please consider doing a Pay if Forward on your blog anyway, we should start the year out on a fun positive note!
