Catching Up ANG National Seminar 2022 Part 1

I realize there is a big blog post gap from June 2022 to July 2023. As I have mentioned I was in a slump (now I see a huge slump) regarding stitching, paper crafts or anything crafting in general. I got on a reading jag and never stopped!

I seem to be getting my mojo back, so that is good news.

July 29 - August 5, 2022, the American Needlepoint Guild had their National Seminar and celebration of 50 years as a Guild in Tucson, Arizona. Since that was driving distance for me, I decided to go.

I took three classes. Two were two days and one was one day. To avoid a post being too photo-heavy, I will post about each class separately.

The weather was fine and the views from the hotel were fantastic. I will spread them out among the posts. The Seminar was held at the Westin La Paloma with great views of the Catalina mountains.

My first class was August 1 & 2. Aztec Heart by Kathy Rees. Here is my progress to date. I stitched a little after Seminar, but not much.

Note: I obtained verbal permission to post photos of the instructor's piece and my progress.

Here is the class sample.

My progress in class.

This is my progress to date. As you can see, I worked on it a bit after the seminar. I believe the needle keep is an Seminar item purchased in advance.

The design size is 9"x 9". It uses floss and metallics for accents.

This seminar was originally set for 2020 but Covid delayed it. I was all set to go and had purchased the name tag instructions. In 2022, they had another name tag option, but I liked the original from 2020 and decided to stitch it.

That is all for ANG National Seminar 2022 Part 1

Beaded Bermuda Reef

 Hello!

Last Friday and Saturday I was so thrilled to attend an IN-PERSON workshop given by my local ANG Chapter, Saguaro Stitchers. Kathy Rees of Needle Delights Originals taught her Beaded Bermuda Reef. It was a very fun project and not too big. We used 8" x 16" stretcher bars. It is full of lots of fun thread colors, stitches and textures.

Here is the teacher's piece:

I enjoyed it so much that I kept working on it and it is finished! Now to find a good framer.

The following photos show progress as the class went on and I as I stitched at home.

First steps. It is so fun to be in class with other people and the teacher!

Notice the zig zag pattern close up below. The top one has been outlined, the bottom has not. What a difference it makes!!

All the stitching is done, now to add the beads!

We made the beaded fringe in class. Below is my progress to see if it is long enough.

Here is a close up of the beginning of the beaded fringe. Cool how it looks so much like coral!!

Here is my finished piece. WOO HOO!!

This workshop attracted me because of the colors and the beading in the middle. It did not disappoint, and the teacher/designer was wonderful as well! I would definitely take a class from her again.

I have some virtual classes to catch up on and I am taking classes at the ANG Seminar this summer in Tucson. It is the 50th Anniversary of the Guild and I can't wait!!

Happy Stitching!!

2020 ANG Stitch of the Month FINISHED

I put in the final border squares (center left and center right) along with some divider lines on the American Needlepoint Guild (ANG) 2020 Stitch of the Month (SOTM).

The design is by Kathy Rees and is 8" square. Previous posts on the topic provide more information.

It was LOTS of fun to stitch!

I wonder what 2021 will offer?

Happy Stitching!!
