Summer Motifs Block

I posted about one of these I did for Halloween on October 13, 2010.

It was a monthly kit I purchased from Fireside Stitchery in 2003. A painted canvas by Kathy Schenkel. For more information, you can click on the October 13, 2010 link above to the previous post.

This is how it looks when stitched.

This is it finished as a cube. Kind of pain to finish, but I managed.

Christmas Ornaments I Made For Us

 Lest you think I forgot about our tree, I did make two stitched ornaments and one papercraft ornament for our tree.

This is one of a Mill Hill Winter Holiday Collection - MH18-1736, Holiday Boot (c) 2017. It is beads and floss on 14 count perforated paper and I backed it with green felt. It is approx. 2.5" x 3"

 

I made this one for my hubby.

This is a "rollup" designed by Kathy Schenkel.  I have made these before as gifts for my family, but I thought I should make on for myself. I even stitched on it during the World Series! Here is the front with it hanging on our tree and then backside not on the tree.

This is a papercraft ornament using dies from Birch Press Designs and various colors of foiled or metallic cardstock. By making two of each layer, I was able to make it double sided. If finished it off with a ribbon bow at the top.

Christmas Stitching Reveal Plus Some Cards Too!

Now that all stitched Christmas gifts have been sent and opened, I can share them with you!

I made three of Kathy Schenkel's Roll-ups without a stitch guide! So all stitch and thread choices were mine. I also did the finishing. I have one more to do for myself.

The top Dodger has the number 15 in front and initials E + A on the back. This went to my niece Emily and her hubby Adam who were married in the year 2015.

 (Ignore the stray green thread I just noticed in the photo above, it is not attached and since the ornament has been sent I cannot retake the photo). OOPS!!

 This Dodger went to my brother who I think may bleed Dodger Blue and his wife.

The Kings player has the number 16 in front and initials L + N on the back. This went to my niece Laura and her hubby Nick who were married in the year 2016.

This snowman tipping his hat went to my sister in law who likes snowmen. I finished it myself and it is sitting on the fabric I used for the backing. It is from the 2017 Just Cross Stitch Ornaments Issue (page 15). It was designed by Patti Connor of SamSarah Design Studio and  is called Hats Off to the Holidays! I used the DMC alternative colors.

Halloween Mini Cube Finished

Thanks to you all I am going to try and finish finish the Halloween stuff before posting, but if that can't be done I will still show the unfinished stuff. So first I give you the Halloween Motifs which was part of a monthly series called Seasonal Blocks (little cubes about 1 inch square) put on in 2003 by Fireside Stitchery which is a shop in Frazer, PA and does mail order too. I stitched the Easter cube and the Halloween cube (woo hoo 10 to go)! I told myself I would absolutely NEVER join another monthly club again!!! So a few years later I joined the monthly cookie cutter club! All kits safely stored in my stash closet! Dare I tell you that in 2007 I also joined a slightly different monthly club - a kit came every two months and it will make a Halloween cat. Maybe one day I can show you all!! Can you guess, Fireside Stitchery is such an enabler!

Back to the present. This is a Kathy Schenkel Designs Painted canvas with stitch guide, and kit. I will give you a picture of it flat so you can see all the motifs and then a picture of it made into the cube - which I did last night. I could have also purchased the optional bead kits to make a beaded tassel and hanger, but I opted not to do that. If I had done that, they would be in the areas without the motifs.
