Moonlit Desert Finished

 I last talked about this project here What I am working on this week on October 12, 2025.

I pulled out a thread on the left and right sides one thread away from the stitching and stitching an outline stitch in the channel or ladder created to give it a corded edge. I plat to finish finish it into a bell pull if I can find one (it is 2.5 inches wide). It is 9.5" long and was stitched on 36 count linen.

I have used this cording technique on other pieces. I learned it from Marion Scoular in her book Advice if for listening to not necessarily taken Page 72. I great book if you can still find it.

Lavender Sachet and a Christmas Ornament

 I have been working on stash and WIP/UFO reduction this year. Here are some more finishes.

This is Honeysuckle. A lavender sachet kit I purchased at my local needlework shop when I lived in Colorado. It is from The Textile Heritage in Scotland. It is about 2" by 3".

Then I pulled out a painted canvas and turned it into our 2025 Christmas ornament. My hubby played trumpet in his high school band, so this one is for him. No stitch guide. I used Kreinik braid from my stash and Father B's Background stitch in green and red floss.

I finished it to hang with the mouthpiece up because my hubby said that is how it is held. For the red edging around the piece, I used Marion Scoular's corded edging technique from her book Advice is ... for listenting not necessarily taking!! 

This is the back. It is about 2" x 5"

Saguaro Sunrise Finish Finished

I decided to be brave and finish my Saguaro Sunrise into a needlebook after all. I did not use the provided fabric because it would fray. I used some ultra suede I had in my stash and the corded edging technique from Marion Scoular's book (page 72).

For this technique, you remove one thread of canvas next to the stitching. You then stitch the outline stitch in the "ladders" left behind when removing the thread. A thicker thread than used in the stitching is required. I used the Glisten from the kit. 

The final result gives it a nice corded edge.

I have a snap insert tool, so I used that as my closure. Also, if I don't initial and date in the stitching and it is possible, I use a thin black Sharpie to write them on the fabric (upside down in this photo).

I used my sewing machine to sew in the wool felt needle pages.

I guess that is it!

Assisi Embroidery Part 3

Here is part three of the Group Correspondence Course (GCC) I am taking called Assisi by Marion Scoular. Part three (green) is similar to part one (blue) but the filling for green is the N stitch rather than cross stitch. I give you the fronts and this time the backs too! Oh so brave. The backs are not perfect, but I think they are pretty good. The final part is an origianl design or the one Marion provided. Not sure what I will do yet, but I have some threads picked out in the red family.
